"Sayings"

Anybody remember John Wayne saying, "That'll be the day."? The only movie I recall him saying this was in The Searchers.
But when I was a boy in the 60s it was said quite often.
I was wondering does anyone remember another JW movie where he said it? Mainly I was wondering because The Searchers came out In 1956 and that seems a tad early for it to have been still popular. But popular it was with us boys.

But we had music to help it along
That'll Be the Day" is a song written by Buddy Holly and Jerry Allison. It was first recorded by Buddy Holly and the Three Tunes in 1956 and was re-recorded in 1957 by Holly and his new band, the Crickets. The 1957 recording achieved widespread success.

The English Language is weird. It can be understood through tough thorough thought though.

Then perhaps "someone" in the movie biz took advantage of this.
But it was sure fun saying it at the time for us boys.
"Are you ever going to stop reading Louis L'Amour books?"
He had a steely eyed fierce look of pure disgust on his face as he slowly answered, "That'll be the day."
