Guess technically this is kinda like giving yourself a nickname; you're not really supposed to do it. But I have decided to welcome myself back to the forum. Didn't really mean to stop coming, it just kinda happened. I haven't been reading much the past couple of years, but I've been wanting to get back to it. I have been buying all the new Lost Treasures versions of the books. Just finished The Hills of Homicide last week. I'm about to read No Traveler Returns. It's one good thing about LL. If you get burned out on Westerns you can read one of his other books that isn't a Western to cleanse the palate, so to speak, then get back to the Westerns. Hope everyone is doing well.
Glad you found your way back. I, too, will read other styles of LL books when I feel like I need a break from the westerns. Right now I'm reading The Walking Drum.

There was a time I read three books...depending on where I was. Drove my ex-wife nutz...she only read medical books. She was easier than going to a doctor, unless you needed a prescription drug. Also had a very good friend who was an operating room nurse...she was so intelligent she was scary and funny at the same time. Both ladies were red haired with hazel eyes and the same skin tone...the ex, Debby, was Irish on both sides and Barb’s parents were adopted, so she didn’t have a clue. The ex is 5’8” and Barb was 5’ if she stood real straight. Barb would have made a great comedy writer, and Deb’s sarcasm was witty enough you wouldn’t feel the burn until the laughter faded. The last time I talked to Barb the phone conversation scared me to the point of convincing her to see a doctor...hers had just retired. She whittled the choices down to three. After telling her to “Pick one!” She did...was put in the hospital, and died within hours. Cancer sucks.

That's awful. Yes, cancer is evil. I sometimes have a couple of books going, and occasionally i'll put one down, it'll get covered up, and I'll forget that I'm reading it.
That big-C is scary stuff. Many in my family have battled it, and luckily have won. I haven't had it but I've had MANY other ailments.....Shouldn't have said that, I guess. I personally don't hesitate going to a doc though. They have been able to keep everything in check, luckily. I hope ALL here do keep regular checkups.i used to work with a guy that would bragg he'd not been to a doctor in 40 years. Looked strong, tall, slim, didn't smoke or drink, was the picture of health. He pretty much keeled over with a massive heart attack at 65 yrs old. I told my doctor about it and he said if he'd had regular checkups they probably would've caught his enzymes off in his heart and caught trouble coming. So, yeah, checkups. And my bro in law recently passed away at 69. Refused to get his prostate exam. Only if ..... Luck to all here.

I am five years post prostate cancer and had a little scare this month when PSA reading rose 0.03 but specialist happy with situation but we will be watching it. What should have been noted as full remission is now on back burner. My Renal Cancer was dealt with by excision which then resulted in my hernia which led to the cancellation of my trip this year. BUGGER!!!
Our recommendations down here are over 40 get your PSA checked over 50 add DRE (Digital Rectal Examination). Like TD I cannot recommend / urge you to see your Dr regularly. Catching any condition early is the only way of getting a good outcome.

There's a guy I know on Twitter who was having abdominal pain the other day and went to the hospital because he thought it was appendicitis. Turns out it is a pulmonary embolism, which is what killed his brother just last year. Not sure about the age of the brother, but this guy is only 36, I think. So, never going to the doctor is not a good plan. He's lucky that they caught it.
