There's a guy I know on Twitter who was having abdominal pain the other day and went to the hospital because he thought it was appendicitis. Turns out it is a pulmonary embolism, which is what killed his brother just last year. Not sure about the age of the brother, but this guy is only 36, I think. So, never going to the doctor is not a good plan. He's lucky that they caught it.
