As of midnight last night we enter Level 1. No more social distancing. Life returns to a new normal. Borders (with some exemptions) remain closed to the world except for returning kiwis and those will quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

To boost the economy surviving employers have been giving one off bonuses to staff to spend locally, we are encouraged to Staycation i.e. the old promotion "Don't leave home 'til you've seen the country" has returned. Tourism and Hospitality is talking of a 5 year recovery period. Out next step will be in conjunction with Australia to open a trans Tasman bubble, hopefully in time for the Ski Season. Businesses are still suffering and restructuring, Downsizing and redundancies will continue for a while.
