"Magazine Publications for Beau or P"

You may have noted that I am starting to collect Old Magazines containing Louis stories.
Do you have hidden away anywhere a list similar to your filmography and book title lists a compilation that lays out where and when Louis was published in various magazines (slicks in particular)?

The Hal Hall bibliography is the best source. The Louis L'Amour Collector website also has decent information. If you end up with any pristine covers I'd love to see snap shots or scans! There were only a few slick sales, mostly fairly late. There were also a smattering of "Men's Adventure."

Either of those sources will lead you to most of them.

Thanks Beau, hadn't thought of Hals bibliography and it's right below my current magazines. :7 so far most have some wear and tear in the covers.
Here's my latest purchase from my FB post

After 80 years PRISTINE might be hard to define :7
I only have one without its cover but keep an eye out for an e-mail or two.

How many of you L'Amour aficionado's remember the racks of LL in Pilot truck stop's?..
I bought quite a few paper back books there, even though I had the hard cover, but the fantastic cover art was so beautiful, I had to have them, in some cases, I had four different books from the same novel, just because of the interesting art work...
Stopped at a pilot truck stop in Tennessee on my way back from 'The Isle Of Palms' in South Carolina and to my dismay, Pilot had discontinued the many racks and racks of these most bountiful books…
Makes you wonder, where did the unsold books go? What happened to them?

One of the dangers of paperback publication. The retailer only pays for the books sold, therefore after a month or so on the shelf it goes back to the wholesaler for a refund, redistribution or in most cases destruction. Down here the practice has been for the cover to be removed and returned and the remainder of the book trashed.

Wow! that's sad... There must have been literally hundreds of books in those stores, probably destroyed...Thanks for the info.
From what I gather, they was only sold at the bigger truck stops, namely Pilot Flying J..
I asked an employee if they discontinued the books and she said most of the truck stops don't have them, but some up north near North Dakota & Canada, still have them. For awhile. They are supposedly still on there App, but I couldn't find any......That's a shame....

Wal-Mart used to have tons of LL.

Now they have a lot of W & Joan Johnstone.

The Johnstone books "sit" on the shelf.

The occasional LL's disappear super fast.

I went in a few weeks back on a thursday and there were 6 Johnstone titles with several copies each.
1 Kelton title with about 5 copies and 2 LL titles with about 5 copies each.

I went back on that Saturday and all of the LL were gone. There was 1 copy of the Kelton book left and it appeared to me that about 4 Johnstone books had sold

Our Wal Mart doesn't sell much anymore. I even quit looking for LL'S because they just don't have them. Idiots.

Neither of our big retail book franchises seem to stock LL so we are being forced to buy on line. So I go direct to the source The LL Trading Post and Paul ensures a great service :7

I opened the discussion because I am now collecting Magazines that contain LL stories and there is a load on line with prices ranging from $12 to $150 :7 Guess what end of the scale I am working at :7.
Novel wise I am buying the current Lost Treasures editions in packs that make the shipping cost effective (which is about 6 novels plus LT Vol 2)so I have a nice Christmas parcel coming my way soon.
