"Cover format"

Back again after a long absence. Looking for information as to when particular paperback cover formats began and ended. For instance, my favorite format is the author's name at the top. But I've no idea the time frames for each of those cover formats or styles.

There's no real way to date them accurately because printing the whole "back list" before the early 2000 used to take 7 years. Inside of a 7 years cycle lots of things could change. If only it was ever organized enough to be able to identify the era just by cover composition!

This raises an interesting issue. I'm trying to rebuild my collection of '80s and '90s Bantam editions that have the Glanzman and Crabb cover art. Listings on eBay and Etsy sometimes provide an indication of publication date and cover art, but often not. A bibliography of LL's Bantam editions and printings, with publication date and cover art for each, would be useful
. . . but I assume, not in the cards?

Hal Hall did a biblio, but I forget if cover art is mentioned. Often the artist is not even noted on the cover or copyright page of the book, so it's an iffy proposition.
