I'm following up on a post regarding MESA a bit back, initially about a potential audio book. That lead to a discussion about the problematic aspects of the book to audio and a note to take a look a MESA's LLLT post script.
I did so...really fascinating and insightful. My recollections of my sole reading of the book, now nearly 40 years ago (good GOD!), was a positive one, although I do recall much of the book operated in the head of the main character in the form of an internal dialogue. I have the new LLLT edition and will give it a read soon, eyes permitting. I'm a bit anxious to see if I will see the problems in the narrative that I was probably more than willing to overlook as 20 year old fan.
A couple of curious things...
Are there any written outlines of drafts that will ever see the light of day in some form in the future?
Most intriguing is the mention of "another novel" LL had tucked away as a potential fill-in if he decided NOT to go ahead with MESA's publication.
