"Tom Selleck"

Saw TS on his commercial for home sale, getting your money now and they get the home later.
Anyway, TS was walking up to the camera I noticed he was not only breathing hard but walking a bit stiff. So I googled him and saw he was 74 years old. I mainly remembered him on Magnum PI, but i realised also that was many years ago.
But, you know I did enjoy his westerns, especially Monte Walsh, Quigley Down Under and Last Stand at Saber River. So he had a pretty darn good career.

I still have difficulty in seeing Quigley Down Under as a western. To me it's just like saying any story about Ned Kelly or something set in the NZ Goldfields is a western. :7

We'll, amigo, with Alan Rickman, who was a really fine baddie I think it was very close to our western movies.
We've see QDU so many times though it's kind of too familiar.

Hey Dave, it's not Tom Selleck but you may enjoy this one too. It's also an Australian 'western' but IMO it's well made:

I enjoyed Tom Selleck in all of those as well, TD.

I'm also really enjoying him in Blue Bloods, currently my favorite TV show.

Like Blue Bloods & Jesse Stone...
Loved Crossfire trail & Mark Harmon as a bad guy. Great cast and wonderful direction. Had the feel of the old west...Got two signed autographs from him when he had something to do with the NRA...
Its a shame they didn't make more L'Amour westerns right after The Day Breakers/ Sackett..
Lord, can you imagine 'The Sackett Brand', ' Lonely on the mountain & Treasure Mountain with Ben Johnson following....
Never to be...I even think 'Ride The River' would have been a good film...
Something I never new; 'Last Stand At Papago Wells' was made inti a movie staring Rory Calhoun ;'Apache Territory'....

Blaine,

I'd also would've loved to see The Sackett Brand made in to a movie.

Thinking about that though, and not complaining mind you, they would have needed to take some "artistic liberties" to give some screen time for characters such as Orrin, Tyrell, Cap, Logan etc. After all, the book was pretty much all Tell.

That said, it would have been great to see.

Think of A Sackett's series you could use every book and pay homage to books like Borden Chantry and Bendigo Shafter.

Would need to have a bigger name for Tell as he would feature most prominently others would have their own chapter/s and then pop up from time to time.

with 12 x 1 hour episodes we could get a few seasons out of this :7

I haven't totally quit though. I'd give a pocket full of dimes to put my choice on a LL movie.

Check the filmography on this site. There are a couple that the rights are held but nothing produced. I would wish for Last of the Breed and CGI Putin in as a KGB Heavy :7 in the part where Zamatev is called to Moscow.

Oh man, LAST OF THE BREED would be an easy film also. So who is JoeMac? I'm thinking someone with an native American look. How about Bradley Cooper?
But, like I say, an easy film. At least compared to, say, a location in the city.

We've got plenty of Beech forest, tundra and mountains so full location shoot in NZ :7
Maybe we should have some fun and put together a cast list in another post.

That sounds great...Be interesting to find out what choices the forum picks. Mack & Zamatev will be the hardest, along with Alekhin, Katerina, Yakov, Botev and Borowsky..
Might have to start my fourth read before I make a decision.
On another note, just finished 'Tucker' and Last stand at 'Papago well'....Two more great ones.
Does anyone know what short story 'The strong will live' is in?

What a cast!! Col. Zamative(sp) maybe Donnie Walberg? He not a big guy but his ability to play a tough borders on great acting. He can be ferocious appearing.

I haven't read this book as of yet Dave, but I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of Donnie Wahlberg. He doesn't need massive size to be very imposing.

I really love this fantasy casting but sometime ago when i was doing it someone here was barking at me incessantly, very angry. I'm glad you guys want to do it again.
I don't like to argue here because I become almost in a too angry a state to contain it. I know some feel THEY'VE backed me up against the wall but ... if they only knew. So I'll just stayed cool and calm.
I guess the fantasy casting revived old memories.
But, I assure you I have some absolutely wonderful memories also. Sorry to digress me amigos.

No apology necessary TD. Yes, I remember those days of the fun we had doing fantasy casting.

I also remember very well being scolded harshly for it by a fellow member.

I'd welcome the fun to return.

My initial gut says Graham Greene but we may find someone with Inuit background more suitable.

Graham Greene has the stocky build to suit.

Yeah, Greene IS a good enough actor to pull it off. ..... Hey, what about that Indian fellow who acted with him in Dances With Wolves, Wes Studi. He's one good actor.
I believe Native American's are proud of him. We had an Indian here where i work at one day and I had a chance to chat with him. When I mentioned how good i thought Studi was his eyes lit up.

He's too old for anything in LoTB though We Were Heroes is well worth watching.
