To Absent Friends... My first best friend became a deputy sheriff in his late 20s. He wasn't cut out for it... suicide at just past 30. Lost my other best friend a couple of years ago... he's still alive, but his mind is gone. He became a danger to himself and his family. Giving that deposition was the hardest thing I've done, because I knew it would end our friendship. 45 years we had.
