"Artwork in books"

I am re-reading "Outlaws of Mesquite" and I am enjoying the art work in the book.

Do any of the other books have art work?

I don't remember any others.

We tried it once or twice, but it was hard to manage and expensive for the publisher. The last thing you want to do is make life harder for your publisher!

Love the artwork in books, in fact I may buy four five issues of the same book with different colors.
Some of the older novels had better illustrations, notably by James Bama, Gregg Manchess, Lou Glanzman, Gordon Crabb, George Tsui,,,Lesli Ross,
and so many other's.. The western cover art by James Bama is quite interesting and has some of his best artist editions..
I have many favorites, but my all time is one that I wish was on a hard cover, and I plan on having it made into a poster to display on my wall,
and it depicts a dark rider on a dark horse, lighting a cigarette...

That was The Man From the Broken Hills by Bill George. We own that one but it was damaged in a fire. One of these days I'm going to try scanning and digitally restoring it.

My favorite cover out of so many..
Would love to have a poster size shot of that one, even a 8x10 would do as long as the quality is good. Just curious, when their is a cover for a book, maybe in multiple covers for the same book, who decides that?
Watching films from the late thirty's and forty's, I see so many authors I never heard of, except for Luke Short, Zane Grey, Ernest Haycox and so many well known writers, if Louis had started writing novels and getting published sooner, he most probably would have had more films made out of his writings, but he was born too late to get established...
