"A quick howdy and a question"

   Hello to all ,

First I'd like to introduce myself , I'm in my 30's and have been an avid LL reader since my teens. It's really nice to find a site such as this , to share the likes and dislikes (if any) of such a wonderful writer.

I've just finished reading Jubal Sackett for the fifth or sixth time now . There was always something that puzzeld me about that book , and until this last reading of it I didn't know what. Near the end of the book , the Komantsi supposedly wiped out all of Kapata's party ( all but Kapata himself ) , however when Jubal is fighting the Spanish , Kapata sneaks off with Komi . When Jubal catches up to them , Kapata has a party of , I think 12 was the number used. I'm pretty sure that when Jubal turned the stream on thier camp earlier on , there were only 7 or maybe 8 in the party then ( that was before they got wiped out by the Komantsi ) so after all of that how did his party grow , did I miss something ? It's the first time ever reading a LL book that I've had that feeling of something just not adding up . Any help at all in helping me understand would be appreciated .

Thanks
Bill from VA

It's been a while since I read that one, Bill, but I never gave the numbers much thought, believing there were more than the eight that accompanied Kapata on the first go around, and more than the twelve that were with him at the end.

It has been a while since I have read the book But if my memory is correct, when Kapata left the main body He had 12 warriors with him. After the battle with Jubal There was only himself and a few left with him. When Komi decided to stay some of her royal gaurd was going to go back to the main camp but met up with Kapata and that is where the extra warriors came from.
