"Do not be amazed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here...He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him..." Mark 16:6-7. How did we get from there to chocolate bunnies? |

LAST EDITED ON 04-08-12 AT 09:09 AM (Pacific Time) Yes guys be safe all around; and be of a good, sound mind to feed a hearty soul and body this Easter day hopefully with or mindful thinking of extended family, those who have passed, and close friends. Agreed indeed Free it is/was an ingeniously dealt money making marketing device: aka a ploy; a slight of hand magic trick. Alas! A strange twisting turning type of corporate spin mischievous finagle; enabling visions of sugar plums dancing in ones head, frolicking white Easter bunnies, chocolates, and painted "Easter" eggs hidden for little kiddies and their hunts. A far cry from history what's been passed down all told: According to John, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene in the garden in the early hours of Sunday morning; then later appeared to his disciples back in the Upper Room where they were hiding from the Jews behind closed doors. John writes; Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be to you" When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord. (John 20:19-20) Luke says virtually the same thing. According to Luke, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and the other women in the garden; then, that afternoon, he met two men and walked with them on the road to Emmaus. They invited him to their home for supper, and, as he broke bread with them, their eyes were opened and they recognized him. They rushed to tell the others According to Luke, as they were talking to the disciples, Jesus himself stood among them. And, just so they wouldn't think they'd seen an apparition, he asked for something to eat, and they gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he ate it in front of them. (Luke 24:36-43) According to Mark, when Mary Magdalene and the other women went into the empty tomb, they saw an angel who told them, "He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying." Matthew 28:6 Then the angel went on to say, "Go quickly and tell his disciples He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him...Behold, I have told you." Matthew 28-7 Matthew agrees, after the women heard the angel, they ran to tell the others, and, on their way back, Jesus himself met them and said, "Don't be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me." Matthew 28:10 I think a lot of neat stuff happened to Jesus' posse over the course of 40 days from Jerusalem to Galilee...my favorite part is when the "Rock" Simon Peter kind of gave up and went back to the old habits and went fishing with 7 other bananas and Jesus called out to them whilst they were in the boat from the shore, made a fire, and ate their fish catch with them...essentially Jesus busted them giving up and going back to their old ways of life that they were comfortable with and knew well before he met them - what a serene scene that must have been indeed Jesus had shown utter complete belief and faith in God; whilst the apostles and disciples were walking scared feared other men and death. Anywho thanks Freeman for reminding - Happy Easter dudes |

Happy Easter to everyone at the campfire and those you love. And thank you to Freeman and Rick; I don't think I can add to that other than a hearty amen. " The only time a man should be dancing is when other men are shooting at his feet. "

A professor asked three Texas Aggies, "What is Easter?" The first one said, "Easter is when a jolly old man in a red suit comes down the chimney and brings presents to everyone." "That is not correct", said the professor. The second Aggie said, "Easter is when you give chocolate candy and red roses to your sweetheart." "That is not correct", said the professor. The third Aggie said, "Easter is when the Son of God came down from heaven, announced the establishment of his kingdom, suffered and died on the cross for our sins, and on the third day he came out and saw his shadow." |
