There have been thousands of sightings in modern times, even back in old west and pioneeer days and stories from Native Americans. I figure EVERYBODY can't be lying! But on the same token, you would think that with all this modern tech stuff, motion detector cameras, etc, that SOMEONE would have gotten a good pic or film of one. All my life I've kept an open mind to the existance of Bigfoot. However, with all of modern technology today, sattelites, infra red, night vision lenses on cameras, everything aided by computor technology etc, etc, etc... I now have to say that if Bigfoot was out there someone would have found and shown him by now. Just my humble 2 cents. LAST EDITED ON 01-03-12 AT 08:55 AM (Pacific Time) I know they are for real - from personal experiences. It's just that their active time is way different than most animals...like at 3am to 5am They have excellent camouflage and blend well I saw an 8 footer cross in front of my truck a couple years ago on I-25 by Pecos at 4 am and boy can they move! My wife was asleep and she barely caught a glimpse as it easily stepped over a 5-strand barb wire fence about 52" inches high (I measured it) with my brights headlights on it. It placed it's arm, hand and elbow across its face to block the glare from my headlights and man was that a giant movement with a big 'ol arm. The length of the shoulder to edge of the elbow and size of the long forearm and right hand was big to say the least. I've spent a lot of time in the woods and know of others who've had all kinds of neat experiences seeing them and crossing paths at times All that I know who've shared with me are are genuine, sharp people and have been quite spooked and surprised... I've also have seen their tracks and I think they bury their poop and bury their dead bodies too for one another. Strange creatures and habits for sure but you'd need a good running dirt bike and the space to catch one in at the sheer speed they cover ground But you would not want to piss one off or "catch" one anyways Confronting one, for me, is not an option... You should see the "markers" they leave in the woods too criss-crossing and twisting live tree-poles and breaking trees in 1/2 about 5 to 6' feet high an indication of power and strength It's not like you can just tree them with dogs or such as a mountain lion or some other wild animal I'll emphasize the speed at which they move is unbelievable, their crotch height is set high and stretch out at 4 to 5' foot steps just walking at a pace...much less running. From what I saw they can outrun any dog My eyes are still good and my judgment of distance and size so all I know is they are real. Unless you're lucky or blessed you a'int gonna cross one's path unless you put in the proper, dedicated time to go up and out into the mountain ranges to spend some quality time in their environment and reaches. I was stalking deer/elk one time bowhunting down a ravine near a small canyon and I thought I'd run into one then too because of the speed at which the shadow and noises whatever creature moved away from me uphill made into some big rocks on a slope...it wasn't an elk, deer, bear, lion, or wild boar either. I've been up that slope both going up and going down it in and around those large round boulder strewn area and I knew where it was headed but it moved way too fast for me to trace. I always wondered about that time. My background is in biology, environmental science, forestry, and wildlife...it's only a matter of time until a few dedicated people figure a way to map their lairs and come up with how they live in the wild woods I think they are quite intelligent to the point that they well know and understand exactly how dangerous men are/can be to their survival. Contact of some way, sort, or kind is inevitable due to our speed of encroachment upon this earth. I've seen evidence, heard neat stories, shared odd happenings, and knew they were around up until I saw that one move across the highway in front of me...simply walking using a long pace not even running it freaked me out as they used to say My wife woke up and put her glasses on, and only saw it turn to look back at us while it was on the other side of the fence so all she could think of was to say "what is that?' to which I replied "I don't know" Even if I knew where one was and how to find it, I wouldn't bother or disturb it. I'm very comfortable and content finally getting the chance to see one in action as it came within 30 to 50 yards away from me. My wife simply sighed and laid back down on the truck seat and went back to sleep...didn't faze her one bit I wanted to document the event with the Bigfoot research scientists or others but my wife says she was still half asleep and won't quite 100% corroborate her story with mine since she didn't see it as I did move across the entire Interstate superhighway so I'm not going to waste my time possibly conflicting with what the wifey-poo thinks she saw or in her opinion sigh...women can't live with them nor without them. Anywho, I thought I'd ramble on about this since you mentioned it |

Rick, I have never seen one but I know people that have. A buddy saw one go across I-85 between Wire Rd and Auburn, Alabama. I konw another guy whose family had some strange interactions with them in the early 50s out in the country not far from here. But that is another story altogether. Rick, I believe they live underground. Sometimes caves, but I mean for real, underground, with hidden intrances. In the south east they have been reported coming up out of water, in a swamp, etc., as if they have an underground lair that you have to go into the water and then up into an underwater hole or something to come up into their lair. And yes, I too believe they are very intellegent and are wel aware of us. A guy told me once he was in a tree stand along the Tennessee River in N. Alabama. He said about five of them showed up at the water's edge, two adults, a half grown one, and two small ones. He said that they "bathed" in the river! One adult sood on beach and one in water near the little ones, both keeping watch, while the "teenager" bathed and helped the little ones. Then the grown ups took turns. Then they all moved off and the guy said they hardly made a sound in the woods. He was scared too. I remember hearing or reading about someone seeing two of them kill a deer. Somehow they herded the deer in a certain directing and quick as lightning one big one that was hiding jumped out and grabbed that deer and broke its back or neck like we would a stick. I hope they don't eat humans! I have always thought it would be neat to make friends with one. And like you said, if I knew where one lived, I might not even tell anyone, authorities or somewhere to report it to. I am not sure I would want to disturb its life and habitat. LAST EDITED ON 01-04-12 AT 01:31 PM (Pacific Time) 15 years ago, a friend of mine the Las Vegas Municipal Judge Eddie Trujillo found a cave in a remote canyon near where we bowhunt where one was living in. I remember it scared the heck out of him when he went into the empty cave and their were skull-like shaped stones embedded into the walls near the ceiling cut out and placed there as decorations in the creepy light by somebody either who had a ladder handy or an extremely tall dude. None of us ever went back there for any curious discoveries; we all automatically have since left it alone and made it off limits to us for wandering bowhunters. Another fellow bowhunter 7 years ago about 2 miles from this cave and canyon was sitting in the morning watching an open, large field on top of what we call Red Hill due to the clay near a Graham Lake and Schaffer Lake in the topo map Whites Peak quad; when an 8' foot tall creature walked quickly across the opening in front of him and stepped over the 5-strand barb wire fence on into the trees. My cousin Deacon Ed Olona from the Springer-Cimarron-Raton Catholic Churches had just visited his camp when it happened and Ed came over to my Elk Camp later that day to tell me our buddy had got too scared to continue the hunt and had packed up and went back home to Las Vegas. 3 years ago, upon conducting a field inspection, I met with a couple of Albuquerque school-teachers in a new RV mobile trailer home near their summer camp development next to Sapello Creek-San Ignacio-Thunder Ranch-Rociada-Pendaries-Gascon area; and a tall creature was peeking into their 7-1/2 'foot high windows the night before; scaring Joann Martinez and her husband Steve half to death. It let out a screeching howl twice near their RV to warn Steve off when he went outside to look around with his flashlight. I have many more of these stories...but I'd never actually seen one myself until that time it crossed the Interstate in front of me with my headlights on it. They've go to be some gnarly creatures to live in the rough wild woods away from contact as much as is possible due to their habits. It probably is a good lifestyle for them though. I've been all over Alaska, parts of Canada, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico working forest fires my boots on the ground, flying in airplanes and helicopters, and parachuting into areas not seen by many...in my experience my thoughts are these creatures would have no problem moving around and surviving wherever they'd choose to hang out. The key is their stealth habits and speed of movement...they blend well camouflaging their movements too. Thanks for bringing this subject up...it's a touchy subject with city slickers I've found. One needs to get out and experience the off beat tracks planet earth has to offer as much as they can get to out there. I think the backwoods have much more unknown stuff we can learn from. They are so good at what they do and there's so much open spaces out in the boonies, that they probably have a blast |

11. "a playful bigfoot?"

Hello Rick and all, They have been seen here in Alabama too, maybe not as much as out west, etc. Maybe because people won't talk about it. I worked for a guy who grew up in an area called Beat 14 back in th early '50s. It is a rural community not far from Slap Out, Alabama and Lake Mitchell. Back then it was sho'nuff rural, just farms, etc.. Anyway, he said that they lived on a small farm and were harried by them a few times. When they would come around their normally tough dogs would all hide and cower and whimper up under the house and would not come out for no reason. They could smell them. And at times come out on the porch and watch it draw water from their well believe it or not. Once or twice they would just walk off with a 300 lb hog under their arm. Another time his sister was taking a bath and one reached in the window and tried to grab her. She came running through the house screaming and hysterical, but necked and out of her head! His parents were in their wagon with some of the kids (some poor country folks still used wagons around here then). As they crossed a certain small creek, about to go over the bridge, a huge one suddenly ran out from somewhere and grabbed the bridals and bits of the two mules pulling it. He said his parents told them that the mules liked to had heart attacks and were frantic, but the creature just held them still just staring at the occupants of the wagon and all the while you could hear what sounded like a baby crying under the bridge. The man got to whipping the mules and the bigfoot and it finally let go and it was miles before the man could calm and stop the mules. I wonder if there was a sick or hurt bigfoot under that bridge that it was asking for help for? Or perhaps a captured human baby? We will never know. A bizarre thing happened one day when one of the boys was coming home from school. He always climbed over a fence and came across a field to the house, a short cut I suppose. As he climbed it a young Bigfoot just jumped across the fence and faced him and stared at him. The older boy started walking real fast, the young bigfoot followed right next to him a few yards away, keep up but parallell to him. The boy started running and the little bigfoot ran. He sho'nuff hauled ass and the litte Bigfoot easily kept up, always keep abreast of him, like a race, like it wanted to play. The boy made it home and the little big foot curved off and dissappeared. Now that is weird. I asked did they report it and he said no, did not want to be laughed at and disbelieved. He said one time there was a commotion down by the barn of a neighbor. The wife was scared to go saying a creature was living in their barn. Her husband went to investigate and the commotion took place and he never came back. She called the Sherriff's Dept and they could see tracks in the mud where were the mans' tracks and the huge tracks of whatever it was, man like tracks but many times bigger. They could tell by the tracks there had been a fight where the man tried to fend it off. He ws never seen nor heard from again. So perhaps some of them do prey on humans. Whose to say that many missing hiker, campers, hitchhikers, etc, around the country over the years weren't actually prey to a Bigfoot. Speaking of that, I saw a documentary about Bigfoot. In the deep south many call them "Swamp Apes" because some live in swamps and swampy area. One of the earliest reports was I think in S.C. in the 1700s or early 1800s where one had been seen and an armed party went in hunt of it. It attacked their camp that night, killing three or four guys right fast like but the other poured their shots into it and killed it. They all fled, scared out of their wits. They went back later and could not find or could not find the spot. Pistolero What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? There is a prominent, moderate, talk radio show host named Michael Medved who is a huge believer in the existence of BigFoot. Occasionally he has guest on with updates on the topic and I believe he has gone on BigFoot expedition type jaunts before. But you can always call in on one of his conspiracy days (he dedicates a day of the week of the full moon to conspiracies and odd topics) and it is pretty easy to get him talking about it. |

Oh sorry, he hosts the Micheal Medved show. You can find it all over the country, I listen over the Internet of 560 Am Chicago from 2-5pm Central time. http://www.560wind.com/ Medved bills himself as your Cultural Crusader, interesting guy. He is a smart guy. I think he started Harvard when he was 16. He use to be a very liberal political activist and then he claims he switched philosophies and bills himself as a conservative, but he decidedly moderate. He is rather well known for his movie reviews. I would highly recommend listening to his show before any major holiday as he runs historical shows on the origin of major footprints in history such as the origin of Christmas, the reason for the mid east conflict, why the civil war was fought, the reason for the revolution etc. IMO, he is strongest in the form of a historian. He also has one other interesting trait, he loves intellectual debate and to further that in the 3rd hour on Fridays he has a one hour segment called disagreement day when you can call in and basically argue with him over any position he has taken (like Bigfoot . Be warned, it is a highly political show, but his Friday movie reviews are usually very good (you can download them to listen to from his website). http://www.michaelmedved.com/moviereviews.aspx Anyway, he is an interesting chap. I do some 5th tier radio shows myself, so I have an odd perspective on the man, but I certainly appreciate his eclectic skills set. Kindest regards... |
