   Welcome Ethan, you've found home.

I read my first LL book in 1969, on my way to Viet Nam courtesy of a Guided Missile Destroyer. That is really surprising considering I hated school and the only thing I read and wanted to read were Hot Rod magazines.

Now I'm 62 and have had all the books, although I've lost some I have loaned out and never got back, and have multiples of many of them.

The highlight was meeting LL himself at a book signing here in town (San Bernardino, CA) around 1980 give or take a couple of years, and have a very coveted signed copy of TO THE FAR BLUE MOUNTAINS.

As you read his books, remember he is teaching you things worth knowing, without you realizing it.

Russ.

Welcome to the camp fire. There's some good folks here--ready and willing to help out on just about any topic you can think of--guns, horses, travel, etc. As for me, I'm 76 yrs. young, living in east Tennessee, and have every book LL wrote and then some others about LL. So join the conversations. It's nice to have 'New' readers. One of the crowd here has made a map of all the folks on this forum--where they live. Apparently we are from ALL over the world !! Hopefully we can meet each other in person at a gatherin' Welcome aboard.

   Ethan,

Welcome to the campfire! I had to chuckle as I read your post. It isn't often I meet someone about my age with the same passion for Louis L'Amour books and western movies.
I'm almost 19 years old, and have spent the past three years reading as much LL as I could possibly get my hands on. I started out with only three LL books (Rider of Lost Creek, Guns of the Timberlands, and The Proving Trail), but trust me, it didn't take long for the collection to grow! Pretty soon I was pulling in loads of bookshelves from Santa Claus! How he ever got them down the chimney I"ll never know. I joined the forum about a year ago, and have enjoyed being an active member. The folks around here are Great! They are good-natured, friendly, and all-around fun to visit with.

Enjoy yourself and happy reading!

LD Pederson

Welcome Ethan! Pull up a stump and set a spell - get comfortable, 'cause I think you're gonna be here for quite some time.

Like Sailboat and LD said, lots of good folks here.

welcome Ethan it's an excellent atmosphere around here at the campfire sharing yarns, telling lies, blowing smoke, venting steam, and overall good-natured ribbing giving out "the business" kidding as needs be with some very knowledgeable fans
I just turned 50 and have read LL ever since the early 70's via a Librarian recommendation for me to take a peek inside The Daybreakers
Keep on sharing stuff and passing subjects around the horn and we should all get a big kick out of answering whatever comes up

Hey, Ethan(You lucky dog, you've got the favorite name that John Wayne gave to his youngest son!)
Glad you found your way here. It's a nice place with mighty good folks who will be glad to discuss anything about LL, or about anything else that comes across ones mind .. as you will soon see.
So join in on any conversation as Beau runs an open house here. Or feel free to start a new post whenever you wish.
BTW I started reading LL when I was about 22 in Jan-1980. I'm 54 now and have been here at the forum for about 10 years. ... Yep, it's a great place with some verrry interesting people.
Age isn't really a factor as everyone here seems to be about the SAME age, that of the Louis L'Amour reader, which is of the unageable reader.
Again, welcome!

Tennessee Dave

Welcome Ethan, and hello from Yorkshire, England. I started reading LL when I was your age. I'm reading 'Reilly's Luck' at the moment. Many of LL's characters are young - and capable! Enjoy those westerns - they make wonderful reading,

Chris

Hello Ethan and welcome from Down Under in New Zealand.

LL is about the only western writer I read but by reading others reading lists (the topic comes up about every two months or so) you'll develop a list of excellent writers to follow and build you library from.

Ethan, Are you aware that LL wrote all his novels about real places that we can go to today? If in his stories, he mentions a spring flowing southward, you can go there today and see it !! Same with caves, tunnels, cliffs, high pastures, mines, etc. They all exist !!!!! Several in this group of fans, here, have "trailed" LL and actually went to the sites that LL wrote about. Bert Murphy is the man who did that and put it in book form in 3 books which you can purchase from this site. Have fun !!!

Welcome to the forum, Ethan. I read my first LL novel, The Iron Marshal, when I was around 10 years old in 1979. I'm now 42 years old and have read all of LL's books multiple times. You might enjoy my LL collectors website at www.louislamourcollector.com

Welcome, Ethan. I, too, began reading Louis L'Amour at a young age. I began with "Crossfire Trail" in the 6th grade, and I've been enjoying LL ever since.
Now I'm 22, recently moved to west Texas from Missouri, and still have a few LL's to go.

I am 70 and have read most of LL's novels at least once and some of them two or three times. I read a couple of Zane Grey novels but they don't stack up to LL. Just got home from spending the day at Mardi Gras in New Orleans. I am exhausted and will spend the rest of the evening lying on the couch reading Silver Canyon by LL.
