   Pistol,

What I didn't like was that because of her, Tell's friends that came with him to the Apache homelands died, and they seemed like solid men. Tampico was my favorite.

Yes, I liked Tell's friends. And I hated that they got killed and hated her for it. But I hated her before this happened, back in "The Daybreakers" when because of her and her evil father, several good men were murdered, including Juan Torres, whom I really liked!

But there is a chance one of them came out of it though. Didn't Tell say that he had not seen nor heard from J Battles and was not sure if he survived or not? That leaves it open that he might have survived, just hadn't shown up yet. But then again, you would think he would have during the time Tell got back, was in jail, working the mine, etc..

Oh, you never did give your opinion: Do you think Laura made it out or was captured by the Apaches? The story just sort of left it hanging. I hope she was. Serve her right to be a slave for the squaws to work, or some Brave's squaw! Almost funny if you think of it.
Later,
Pistolero

Hard telling what happened to her; whether or not she got captured by the Apaches. Your guess is as good as mine, my friend. The way I see it, it doesn't matter all that much what became of her, just as long as Tell and the rest of the Sacketts got shut of her for good!

Laura Pritts decided to follow Tell since she was unfamiliar with the territory. After several miles she did not realize Tell had camped in a side canyon and she rode up to Pete Kitchen's in the dark which nobody in their right mind would do. Pete had a habit of shooting first and asking questions later. Only Laura could not answer the questions--she was dead.

I guess the moral of the story is that a woman's place is not in the kitchen!
